SUGAR Twist and Shout Fadeproof Kajal – Black Velvet Review
By Saloni Shah (Team IMBB)
Skin type: Combination and acne prone
Skin tone: Fair to medium
Eyes: Sensitive; contacts lens wearer
My hunt for a perfect kajal never really ends! Although I have used and liked some kajals a lot, I wouldn’t mind trying a few new ones. Sugar Cosmetics have one kajal in their range and one liquid liner too. I picked up this one since I was out of my Lotus colorkick. So let’s see how this one worked for my eyes.
Price: Rs 399
Let your eyes do the talking with this sensational eye pencil & kajal from SUGAR! Just twist the easy applicator and rim your eyes with its intense black formula and you’re good to take on the world. With a specially designed anti-slip grip gives you a super steady hold, its creamy consistency and preservatives-free formula makes it suitable for the waterline as well as lash line. This high performance multi-use product combines the benefits of the kajal with those of a gel liner and does not fade or smear for more than 10 hours.
My Experience with Sugar Twist and Shout Fadeproof Kajal – Black Velvet:
Packaging: The Sugar kajal comes in a nice sleek box with mosaic design all over it which gives a quirky touch to the packaging. The kajal nicely fits inside that box and the box mentions the shade name and more details. The kajal comes in a basic black packaging which is super long and sleek.
The best part about it is the grip on the kajal. It ensures really good grip which in turn gives me a perfect kohl look. It is very handy and the quantity is great too.
Consistency, pigmentation and shade: The shade that I picked is called Black Velvet and it did stay true to its name. It has an intense black pigmentation which appears in just 2 swipes, so no tugging and pulling required. In just 2 swipes, I get an attractive black look all over my eyes. The pigmentation is super great and does not lose its intensity even if worn for hours and hours. The consistency is extremely smooth and glides nicely over my waterline and below the eyes. It takes a while to build up colour on my waterline because my eyes are pretty watery. I really like this for under my eyes since I usually apply the kajal that way but I do not find it great to use over my eyes because it does not give me a neat look.
Staying power: The kajal stays for just 2 hours on my waterline which is not that great but if I compare some other drugstore kajals then they stay for similar time too. And under my eyes it stays for 6-7 hours and sometimes even more but just fades a bit from the outer corners of my eyes since my eyes are watery. Once swiped, it does not really smudge and stays put.
Really liked this one, but the ones from the other brands work in a similar way!
Pros of Sugar Twist and Shout Fadeproof Kajal – Black Velvet:
• Flawless packaging which is very handy.
• A nice grip layered over it to ensure a perfect look.
• Intense black colour which is very pigmented.
• Glides very smoothly.
• Creamy texture.
• It stays put for more than 6-7 hours under my eyes.
Cons of Sugar Twist and Shout Fadeproof Kajal – Black Velvet:
• Delivers same results like the drugstore ones but costs more.
• Stays for just 2 hours on my waterline (I don’t mind, but it does not match their claims).
IMBB Rating: 4.5/5
Will I Repurchase/Recommend Sugar Twist and Shout Fadeproof Kajal – Black Velvet?
Yes I do recommend it if you do not like touching up your makeup. This kajal stays on for long and it is good for contact lens wearers too. I am not too sure of repurchasing since I get good kajals which deliver the same results at a lower cost.
Conclusion: I think Sugar Cosmetics have launched really good stuff and I totally think this is the time for them to expand.
